How do I ... Zero/Calibrate the Force Probe

ULI Probes and ports

We always use DIN1 for the force probe, and PORT 2 for the motion detector.

Readying Force probe for calibration

We want to orient the force probe in this fashion in order to CALIBRATE it. (If it is connected to the cart, you can just hold it over the edge of the table.)

Taring the force probe

BEFORE you calibrate the force probe, press the TARE button on the side of the force probe (while it is in the above orientation).

Follow Calibration Instructions

  1. Click on SETUP SENSOR bar, to the left of the COLLECT button on menu
  2. Select CALIBRATE tab
  3. Click on Force Probe (DIN1)
  4. Click PERFORM NOW button
  5. Remove all mass from force probe
  6. Type "0" in Value box of Reading 1
  7. Wait for Input numbers to stabilize - click KEEP button
  8. Repeat for Reading 2 with 500 gram weight - type "4.9" in box .. stabilize - KEEP

Zeroing the Sensor (within Logger Pro)

  1. Click on the ZERO button on the toolbar.
  2. Select FORCE PROBE.

When we use the force probe, we almost always use the motion detector. But, we almost NEVER want to zero the motion detector (it would "look" to see what reading it has now, and call that zero - we don't always have a well defined starting point).

What if I zeroed the motion detector by mistake - how can I fix that? .. Look at the "Oops, I zeroed the motion detector .. How Do I un-zero the Motion detector?" page
