Kirchoff's Voltage Loop circuit (Double battery)

Here is a simple double battery circuit (three resistors, two batteries) - this can be solved by Kirchoff's Loop rules, as indicated below at the bottom of the page. The resistance values all have to be non-zero, but the voltages can range from +voltage to -voltage (and can include zero).

The magnitudes (and "directions") of the currents are shown, as well as the various powers. [Notice that the Power delivered by the battery will be negative if the current is being "forced into" the battery.]

Set the starting values :

           V1 (volts) =
           V2(volts) =
           ---------------------------------------------------
           R1 (ohms) =
           R2 (ohms) =
           R3 (ohms) =
           ---------------------------------------------------
