Linear Air Resistance on a Projectile

Here is a projectile with linear air resistance (the drag force is proportional to the velocity magnitude). You can set the amount of drag (g) and the other initial conditions. The upper right graph shows the XY plot, while the lower two graphs show the Vx and Vy velocities as a function of time. (Notice that as time goes on, Vx -> 0, but Vy -> Vterminal.)

General Initial conditions :

  • Y0 =  m    X0 =  m
  • Initial velocity V0 =  m/s   Angle q =  deg
  • Coefficient of drag (g) =  (1/sec)
  • timestep of animation (dt)  (sec)

Plot "no air resistance" case also!
