General Equipment

  • 1 Rotary Sensor
  • 1 digital adapter (not shown)
  • 1 USBLink
  • 1 rotary apparatus
  • 1 hoop mass
  • 1 disk mass
  • 1 meter stick (not shown)
  • 1 box mass

General Setup

The string from the rotation apparatus to the pulley must be horizontal.

Set up the rotary sensor (part I)

Use the largest pulley on the rotary sensor, and make sure it rotates clockwise when the hanging mass drops.

Set up the rotary sensor (part II)

The string must line up with the pulley groove; otherwise, the measurement accuracy of the angular acceleration is compromised. The picture to the left shows a bad setup.
