How do I ... Set the "default location" folder (and Calibration folder!) in Logger Pro

Last Updated = Monday, 08-Oct-2007 18:08:09 EDT

Setting the Preferences

Launch Logger Pro - go to the FILE menu and choose PREFERENCES.

Browse for the EXPERIMENTS folder

For now, leave the Calibration folder alone, but click the BROWSE button next to the Experiment Folder.

Navigate to your Lab Course folder

A) Navigate to the Experiments folder underneath the Logger Pro (2.2) folder .. double click on "Experiments" to open it.

B) Navigate down to the LTU_Physics folder (if it is not there, then you have not installed the Logger Pro LTU files - go back and use the Install CD).

C) Navigate to the appropriate Physics Lab course :

Physics1 = PHY2221/PHY2421
University2 = PHY2431
College2 = ARC2131 "Physics for Architecture"

D) Click OK once you have selected the appropriate folder, and this folder preference should "stick". From now on, when you go to open a file, it should remember this folder.

Check the Calibrations folder also!

Actually, you should check the calibration folder to be sure it is pointing in the right place - occasionally it gets out of whack. If you see the calibrations folder link looking like the top image - it probably won't work correctly. Click the BROWSE button and go to the correct location {I've split up the address so it would fit}:

      C:\Program Files\
          Vernier Software\
               Logger Pro (2.2)\
                    Calibrations\

If you get a "calibration folder is not correct" or "can't open open this file with this hardware configureation" error dialog - check to make sure your calibration preference is set as shown above!
