How do I ... Calibrate the Temperature Probe with DataStudio

Datastudio and temperature sensor

Make sure the temperature probe is connected to the laptop through USB Link and DataStudio is running, and the experiment file has been loaded (as per lab manual directions).

You need a source of BOILING water, and a source of ICE COLD (slushy) water - BEFORE you start calibrating.

Follow Calibration Instructions

  1. Click on SETUP button
  2. Select CALIBRATE SENSORS button
  3. The calibration type should be 2 Point
  4. Set the Standard Value of Calibration Point 1 as 0 and Calibration Point 2 as 100 degrees.
  5. Place the probe into the ice-water bath. Swirl it around to make sure it equalizes the temperature to 0 degrees (the "sensor value" reading should settle down to a reasonably constant value).
  6. Wait for the Sensor Value to stabilize {don't worry about the value - just when it basically stops changing radically .. dude} - click READ FROM SENSOR button.
  7. Remove the probe from the ice water, and warm it a little with your hand (just to reduce the shock when we move it to the boiling water).
  8. Place the probe into the source of boiling water, and swirl it around until the Sensor Value for 2 stabilizes, and then click READ FROM SENSOR.
  9. Before you close this dialog box - RECORD YOUR TWO VALUES - in case you need to recalibrate the sensor, you can just type in these values.
